Since 1929, the National Pop Warner Program’s philosophy has been that athletics and scholastics go hand in hand. At every level, Pop Warner programs seek to develop well-rounded young men and women who learn not only the fundamentals of football, cheerleading and dance, but also the importance of education in an atmosphere that is conducive to developing sound character while having a good time.

Pop Warner Little Scholars Inc. (PWLS) is the only national youth sports program that requires it’s participants to perform adequately in the classroom before permitting them to play. We believe that these standards help our children develop a sense of responsibility and an appreciation for academics and athletics that will that will help them develop later on in life.

Each year, the most academically accomplished Pop Warner kids compete for Academic All-American status. This process begins at the association level and up through each of the eight Pop Warner regions to the national level. Students are eligible for All-American Scholar Consideration if they are in 5th grade or higher, have a minimum of 96% GPA, and have a complete prior year report card.  Students who meet these requirements complete an application where they also list their non-sports related extracurricular and community activities.

RB Pop Warner historically has a high amount football and cheer student-participants who meet the scholastic requirements for consideration. This is a testament to the strength of the PUSD School District as well as our parent’s active involvement in their student’s academic success.

By April, National Pop Warner will announce the Scholar All-Americans.  Students are selected as First Team, Second Team, or Honorable Mention Scholars.  There are only 35 First Team Scholars selected nationwide for each grade level in Football and Cheer.  Furthermore, all First Team 8th Grade All-American Scholars are considered “Senior Scholars,” and are eligible for higher education scholarships.

All-American Scholars are also invited to the All-American Scholar Weekend, which is held during the month of May.  In addition, our local Palomar Pop Warner Conference honors all of our Palomar All-American Scholars in June with a banquet held in San Diego.
